Eleventh grade Advanced Placement English is designed for four-year or university bound students who have achieved a high level of writing and reading skills. AP English Language covers the California standards for the eleventh grade. Course content consist of the study of literature of America with a focus on rhetoric, discussion, and written analysis. Students will begin to utilize A.P exam style questions in a timed situation and advanced analytical techniques which will further be refined in the twelfth grade Advance Placement course. Students will read at least three longer texts (novels, dramas, epics, etc.) each semester. The culmination of the course will be the A.P English Language Exam in May. There are summer reading requirements that should be completed before the start of the year. Students enrolling in this class can obtain summer reading requirements from the instructor, and/or the Century Website.
