"The Century student body has been fantastic this year. They are energetic, enthusiastic, open to new ideas, and willing to try their best on every standard-based product I present. Their finished products have been very well done in a timely manner. I am proud of them and look forward to the rest of this year." - Mr. McElfresh
This course is designed to help students develop artistic skills to help them express themselves through art in a much more positive outlet not only for them but the community as well. The course also allows the students to express their own feelings on society, politics, religion, etc., through drawings and paintings. The beginning of the course focuses on helping students develop better skills. They learn about the different types of lines, which they can use to make their own works of art. They also learn about other drawing techniques such as figure drawing, shading, one point perspective, values(different shades of the same color) and how to draw human features such as eyes, noses, mouths, ears, hands, etc. While the second half of the course lets the student take all the knowledge they have acquired and lets the students visually express themselves and their feelings through painting. The course is offered to all students here at Century and is one of the many Fine Arts programs. Students, keep in mind that you must have ten credits of fine arts as a graduation requirement. So I strongly encourage those of you who love art and want to develop better skills, to take this class. |
