M.E.S.A. is an acronym for Math, Engineering, Science, and Achievements.
It has helped students who are enrolled in this program throughout their
high school years to excel in academics. About 10% of the students at
Century High School are M.E.S.A. students. M.E.S.A. It is an academic
program that prepares these students for their college years and to attain
higher grades in the subjects mentioned while in high school. There are
workshops (Academic Excellence Workshop a.k.a. A.E.W.) after school or
during lunch for the students who want to excel in math. The advisors of
M.E.S.A are Mr. DiAntonio, Mrs. Holliman, Mr. Poveda, and Mr. Snyder.
This club competes against other high schools every year in February at
California State University of Fullerton. These students participate in
Engineering Day and M.E.S.A. Day. M.E.S.A. students are given the chance
to shine at these competitions. They either participate in an event and may
get awards for their achievements. Among other activities, M.E.S.A.
participants are able to tour many universities. The M.E.S.A. students are
able to go to different Universities to explore the campus itself or just see
what the environment there is like. If any of these universities interests the
students, their advisors will assist them in answering the questions they have.
