Portfolio Design
Make sure that you have a sturdy binder for your portfolio. (Preferably a three ring binder)
The binder includes:
· Spine insert: Your name and I.D. number
· Cover insert: Must include your name, I.D. number, Century High School and Senior Exit Portfolio. You can personalize your cover with pictures, design and/or quotes that best reflect you.
· Section dividers where appropriate: Goals/Career Development, Growth, Performance/Achievements, etc.
· Table of contents
· Letter of Introduction should follow the format of a formal business letter. (Full Block)
· Make sure that each caption sheet is one page only.
· Your font must not be bigger than 12 point. All caption sheets should be uniform and use the same font size.
· Margins all around should be standard one inch.
· Single space paragraphs and double space between paragraphs.
· Standardize all evidence so that it is in the same font and size.
· Double-space essays, research papers, etc.
· Check for spelling and grammar errors.
· Be sure to include documentation for the community service hours served. (It is suggested that the verification of community service be on letterhead paper of the organization served.)
· Include a copy of any awards, letters of recommendation, newspaper clippings etc. which you think are relevant and important to your experience at Century. Note: If you are asking teachers for letters, do so early (two weeks in advance is considered polite, and will increase the chances of receiving a glowing letter). Include with your request a copy of your resume and a brief paragraph asking which strengths you would like to be highlighted in the recommendation.
· Invest in clear plastic pockets for each page of your portfolio. Count on using 50.
· Make sure you purchase good quality dividers. Type out the sections of your portfolio and insert the divider.
· Videos of individual or group presentation: debate, speech, monologue, skit, assembly presentation, teleconferencing, Academic Decathlon, Mock Trial, MUN, MESA, dance, drama and musical performances

· Original photographs
· Original poetry
· Write-ups of scientific experiments
